zeolite or sodium aluminosilicate

Zeolite or sodium aluminosilicate is produced by dissolving alumin trihydrate in either fresh or recycled caustic. The resultant liquor is purified and brought to the required concentrations for the zeolite to be produced. The crystallization process is, silicate and aluminate solutions transferred into a crystalliser where the zeolite will be formed. The type of zeolite formed is dependant on the reaction conditions. These conditions include other raw material concentrations, temperature, pH, mixing time, the crystallisation time and temperature. After crystallisation the zeolite crystals are separated from the crystalliser slurry by filtration. The resulting filter cake is washed to remove alkali and other impurities from the zeolite. The filtration liquor contains quite high amounts of caustic soda. Water is evaporated from the liquor to bring thee caustic content down to such levels that the concentrated liquor can be reused in the process to dissolve the aluminiumtrihydrate. Finally the zeolite is dried to the required moisture content and ready for packaging or bulk shipment.
