The underpinning philosophy of ZERO HARM is that all injuries and environmental incidents are preventable - they all have causes which can be identified and eliminated before things go wrong.
ZERO HARM is an acronym, which summarises 8 key behaviours:
Zero tolerance means that personnel, at all levels of the organisation, will act if they see someone behaving unsafely or in a manner likely to cause an environmental problem
Everyone will be trained so that they can effectively contribute to the improvement of safety, health and environmental issues and to also understand the importance of their own behaviour
Risk assessment is recognised as an essential precursor to effective risk control
Observations and incidents will be reported, investigated and actioned, in order to continuously improve safety, health and environmental issues
Hardware will be properly designed, installed, used and maintained
Audits will identify any deficiencies and drive continuous improvement
Recognition of good performance is important to create a positive culture
Management leadership must be visible and consistent
By following the principles contained with in the ZERO HARM philosophy, we are striving to reach our goal of ZERO HARM to people and the environment.
The philosophy of ZERO HARM is backed up by the INEOS SILICAS Health and Safety (Safety, Health & Environment) Beliefs and Principles.
