Catalysts
Introduction
INEOS Silicas offers:

  • A comprehensive range of Cr, Cr/Al and Cr/Ti catalysts for hdPE supported on granular or microspheroidal silicas or silica titania co-gels
  • Microspheroidal and granular silica supports for Ziegler Natta and metallocene catalysts
  • Chemical catalyst supports for use in a broad spectrum of processes.

Ineos Silicas is best positioned to be your Partner of Choice for the development of new Chromium catalysts, modified Chromium catalysts or catalyst supports specifically suited to your process and exacting polymer requirements.

History
INEOS Silicas (then Crosfield) entered the polymerisation catalyst business in the early 1970s to independently meet the needs of the growing number of Particle Form (Phillips) slurry hdPE plant customers. EP30, and subsequently EP30X, became recognised in the late 1980s and early 1990s as being supreme in their balance of activity and activator recovery performance for general purpose hdPE blow moulding resins.
From this strong base we have developed a range of catalyst supports suitable for either slurry or gas phase use as carriers for Chromium, Ziegler Natta or metallocene components.

Technical Information

Safety Data
Our silicas are fine, light powders which are neither silicotic nor acutely toxic. They contain no crystalline silica and are generally regarded as safe and non-toxic materials. In line with good safety practice for all fine powders they should, however, be handled carefully in order to minimise dust clouds and care should be taken to avoid inhalation. Face masks should be worn during handling and exhaust ventilation used if available.
As silicas are highly adsorbent, they may have a drying effect upon the skin and accordingly, routine precautions during handling such as the wearing of gloves or overalls are recommended.
For further advice/information consult the material safety data sheet which is available on request.Storage and Handling
Our silicas should be stored in unopened bags in a dry place away from any strong odours. Ideally, storage temperatures should remain between 2 - 35ºC . When handling these products, as with powders in general, care should be exercised so as to minimise any dust creation or any build-up of static electricity.
