Filtration is an integral part of the finishing process in almost every brewery. Using advanced milling technology, PQ Corporation has developed a range of Permeability Controlled (PC) products which can be applied on the filter. A synergy is achieved by this one stage filtration and stabilisation. The controlled permeability of filter grades of LUCILITE offers the possibility of partial replacement of diatomaceous earth filter aid. The lower solids loading on the filter may lead to extended filter runs, savings on diatomaceous earth and reduced filter stoppage time. However it should be noted that it is also possible to use non-permeability controlled silica xerogels and hydrogels.
