Jacobs Site
The Jacobs site is located on the East Coast of South Africa, 12 km from Durban Harbour, Africa’s busiest port. This makes it well situated to supply export markets both within Africa and beyond.
Silicate products have been manufactured on the Jacobs site for the past forty years. Currently, a range of sodium silicate glasses are manufactured in a regenerative furnace, for supply either to the Wadeville site to make liquors, or for export. More recently, a oil manufacturing facility has been established at the site in which a range of formulated specialty lubricants are produced for the Quaker Chemical South Africa joint venture. Both manufacturing facilities on the site are ISO 9002 listed.
Following a major focusing and upgrade of the manufacturing facilities,
personnel based at the Jacobs site currently total 40.
